Hey I’m no Einstein but my Faith has made me a Genius
Our Christian faith is being challenged on many levels. We are watching friends attack other friends over eschatological difference’s and other’s who are just plain walking way from God. Yet it is these same challenges that can only strengthen our resolve if mercy and grace are our standards.
Just today a new article has appeared about how one of the greatest minds of our century thought religion was “childish” and nothing more than “primitive legends.”In an article titled “Einstein letter shows disdain for religion” Stephen Adam’s writes:
Albert Einstein regarded religions as "childish" and "primitive legends", a private letter he wrote a year before his death has revealed. The great scientist's views on religion have long been debated, with many seizing upon phrases such as "He [God] does not throw dice" as evidence that he believed in a creator. But the newly-unveiled letter, a response to the philosopher Eric Gutkind, has cast doubt on the theory that Einstein had any belief in God at all towards to the end of his life. In the letter, dated January 3 1954, he wrote: "The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weakness, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish"No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/1951333/Einstein-thought-religions-were-%27childish%27.html
I do agree that PlanetPreterist is a place where many thoughts and points of view can be expressed and shared in a way that’s beneficial. A “think tank” if you will, that can only work if compassion and grace are its terms of use. The Einstein letter doesn’t really prove anything because there are many brilliant minds that acknowledge the complete opposite view of God. I do want to caution some of those brilliant minds here who at times have made this site nothing more than a high school “click” when it comes to interacting with those of us who are perceived to be theological deficient. Just remember the words of Jesus in Luke chapter 10.
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. Luke 10:21
We are all brothers in Christ because of our belief and the faith we put into a cross that held our Savior. It doesn’t take rocket science mentalities to figure that out. Even Darwin’s monkey’s can understand that theory.
