Curly's Day in Court

Witness to the Truth

Matt 24:34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

Matthew chapter twenty four is an interesting read if you still believe that Jesus Christ will return one day in the future on the clouds of glory. Matthew twenty four seems to be about his symbolic return in the lifetime of the disciple's who were with him that day. So that makes those around him first hand witness's to the truth of "the sign" of his return.

Now here is both the good and the bad news beloved. The good news is Christ has overcome the power of the grave and his cross has proclaimed us victorious and the bad news is we won't be witnesses to the spectatular epic of the clouds opening up with Jesus on a white horse and the armies of heaven trailing behind him ready to whip the devil. Sorry saints.

Matt 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

The modern church that bases it theology on the creeds of the church fathers who have come before, has turned this passage of Scripture into a three stooges comedy of error's. Ask yourself what did Jesus mean when he said, "this generation" would be the witness of the "sign" of his return?

A sign? Didn't Jesus mean his physical appearance like our church father's presumed? If that was the case and they expected a physical return, then why did they (the disciples) ask for a sign when his grand entrance on the clouds of glory would of been sufficent enough?

Welcome to the world of fulfilled eschatology. Rejoice that we live in the age of a fulfilled verdict executed upon all the enemies of Christ and reap the rewards of being his children born of grace through faith and belief in his name.

My friends, I hate to burst your rapture bubble but I would encourage you to enjoy the life you live now because the only sign that is left for you to see is the love of Christ demontrated through your right actions, through compassion and through eye's filled with mercy.

Jesus did not lie to his generation, he told the truth. Matthew twenty four is about the destruction of an earthly place of worship. That was "the sign" given by Jesus to look out for in verse three.

"Tell us when will these things be? What will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age?"

If he hasn't returned as he foretold in the symbolism of the destruction of Herod's temple in AD 70, then he's nothing more than a liar and false prophet. So shouldn't you at least give him the benefit of the doubt considering who his heavenly Father is?

I would think so.
