In Memory of Patrick Swayze
Thanks Patrick for the beautiful example of your courage and dignity, in your final years.
Once at the funeral, I heard the preacher say something that contains a nugget of truth about all of us. He said, "Here lies the shell; the nut has passed away".
If we’re honest with ourselves, we basically are quirky people. Odd and peculiar people whose habits and mannerisms are as individual as a snowflake. Flake being the operative word because it seems as human beings we have lost focus of what priorities are truly important in fulfilling our existence.
Whether we like it or not,we still are evolving because the everyday, high speed pace of life itself has caught us up in its currents of events and technology has replaced simple human artistic faculty to the point that we are becoming more like robots. What begins to happen is we loss sight of the quiet and still moments that beg for our attention. God inspired dreamers have become a rare species and imagination has only become a means to push the limits of societies agenda of production and quota.
The life that is the most fulfilling is the life that never abandons its own heart. It is the life that looks insides itself and comes alive to the reality of what its existence is in terms of relationship and love towards others. We were created to love. Created to care. Created to experience the simple joys and heartaches of this ride we call our natural lives. Carl Jung says it best here.
Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes. C. Jung
We are only empty shells once our spirit and essence are released from their earthly home. This is the part of us that never dies. The part of us that truly lives here now. On earth we may be that “nut in a shell,” but who we really is far from anything that can be measured or seen in the flesh.
We triumph over this life when we fully embrace everything it throws at us, the good and the bad. Remember life is fair no matter what we experience. Embrace it now and somewhere, somehow you will embrace it once again. I don’t really know how to explain that fully but it is the truth.
Jesus always described heaven by comparing it to earthly situations or material things. Think about that for a moment. Streets of gold and heavenly choirs are good things to look forward too but who says heaven is these sort of visions for everyone? No man knows but it seems the spirit man wants to tell us a secret that only the heart can hear in its whisper. Be still and listen to those whisperings. Be still and know it is God who wants to know that you can fully experience Him after we have passed from this life as well as in this very moment right now.
Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psa 46:10
