Two paintings are available at this time. These two related pieces are based on the prophetic teaching of Jesus Christ in Luke 17:26-32 (NIV):
"Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. On that day no one who is on the roof of his house, with his goods inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. Remember Lot's wife!"
Jim undertook the challenge to visually represent the relationship between Noah’s flood, the fires of Sodom and the destruction of Jerusalem and Herod’s temple in A.D. 70. This apocalyptic vision forms a conceptual outline of New Testament prophecy as demonstrated in texts such as Matthew 24:37-41, 2 Peter 2-3 and Revelation 11:1-8. Just as Jesus and the apostles linked these three events in covenant history, so Jim brought them together using stunning imagery and symbolism. The result is nothing less than apocalyptic art.
The first painting, reproduced on the same Masonite medium as the original piece, presents the three events Jesus referenced in Luke 17 in a vertical orientation. Herod’s temple is placed at the center of the painting, symbolizing the theological significance of the Jewish temple in New Testament prophecy. The ark below the temple combined with the city of Sodom above the temple complete the comparison Jesus and the apostles emphasized throughout their prophetic teaching.

The scroll represents God’s Word: Noah’s flood, the fires of Sodom and the destruction of Herod’s temple are represented as key events in covenant history. They merge through Jim’s ability to depict the inundation of the outer courts of the temple with waters from the flood. The fires of Sodom in the background are reflected off the temple and water to unify the apocalyptic teaching of Jesus and the apostles.
